Seraphim Bon

Seraphim (Bon) ( Ukrainian Серафим , secular name Fedir Bon Федір Бонь; * 1959 in the Transcarpathian Oblast , Ukrainian SSR ) has been Metropolitan of the True Orthodox Church of Russia since 2008 .

Life

Fedir Bon was born into a Carpathian-Russian family. In 1981 he met the arch monk Meletios and was baptized. He went to his Panteleimon monastery in Kolesarowo in the Subcarpathian Mountains . After its closure he continued to live in the illegal monastery in the Carpathian Mountains and was ordained a monk in 1983 . He turned to the Catacomb Church in the Sekach direction and was ordained a priest that same year . In 1984 he took over the management of the secret monastery after the death of Meletios.

At the end of the 1980s he turned away from the secatch of the catacomb church and took off the religious orders. He went to the catacomb congregations, which had joined the Church of the True Orthodox Christians of Greece (Matthew Synod) , and was ordained a monk and priest there again in 1997. In 2002 he was proposed to the Church of True Orthodox Christians of Greece as their Bishop by the parishes in Russia and Ukraine. In 2008 he was ordained the first Metropolitan of Kiev and All Russia of the True Orthodox Church of Russia , which was formed from these congregations. This choice is not recognized as canonical by the Russian Orthodox Church , as apostolic succession is not assured.
