Sergei Afanassjewitsch Makarov
Sergei Afanassjewitsch Makarow ( Russian Сергей Афанасьевич Макаров ; born September 19, 1952 in Nikolajewka , Jewish Autonomous Oblast , Soviet Union ) is a Russian officer.
In 1987, Makarov graduated from the Malinowski Military Academy of Armored Forces . In 2003 he became Colonel General . From 2005 to 2008 he was Chief of Staff of the Volga - Urals Military District , first Chief of Staff in 2008 and then, until his retirement in 2010, Commander of the North Caucasus Military District .
In 2008 Makarov was awarded the Order of St. George as the first holder of the 4th degree of the order in modern Russia.
