Sergei Ivanovich Pitschugin

Sergei Ivanovich Pitschugin ( Russian Сергей Иванович Пичугин ; * 1881 in Sergiev Posad , † 1971 in Moscow ) was a Russian painter.

Pitschugin studied in Moscow at the School of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture, a. a. with Konstantin Korowin . He became a member of the cooperative of traveling artistic exhibitions . In 1923 Pitschugin made a portrait of Leon Trotsky . After Stalin came to power, he hid it under a white box, where his family did not discover it until many decades later, after his death. It is now in the David King Collection .
