Sergei Vasilyevich Gerasimov ( Russian Сергей Васильевич Герасимов ; born September 14 . Jul / 26. September  1885 greg. In Mozhaisk ; † 20th April 1964 in Moscow ) was a Russian-Soviet portrait and landscape painter and illustrator .

From 1921 to 1930 he taught at the WChUTEMAS .

In 1966 he was awarded the Lenin Prize. In 1958 he was awarded the title of People's Painter of the Soviet Union, in 1956 Gerasimov received a doctorate in art history, and from 1947 he was an active member of the Art Academy of the Soviet Union.

He illustrated books by Nikolai Alexejewitsch Nekrasow and Maxim Gorki .
