Sergio Capogna (born October 13, 1926 in Rome ; † July 9, 1977 there ) was an Italian film director and screenwriter .

Life

Capogna was imprisoned by the Germans during World War II , but managed to escape. During his beginnings as an actor in Giulio Girola's ensemble shortly after the end of the war , Capogna studied at the Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia from 1952 , where he graduated in directing in 1954. He then made several short films , which were also shown at the Venice Film Festival , and made his first feature film in 1959, a somewhat hypothermic and intellectualized film based on a novel by Vasco Pratolini ; a mixture that also marked his three later films until his untimely death, for which he also wrote the books and was responsible for editing .
