Sermitsiaq (old spelling Sermitsiaĸ ) is next to Atuagagdliutit the second Greenlandic newspaper to be distributed nationwide.

Sermitsiaq has been published in Greenlandic in Nuuk , the capital of Greenland , since May 21, 1958 . It is named after the city's landmark, Mount Sermitsiaq , which is also shown in the newspaper's logo . Originally, Sermitsiaq was the Greenlandic version of the Danish-language newspaper Mikken . Mikken was published on Saturdays, Sermitsiaq on Mondays. For a short time, Sermitsiaq came out bilingual, until Mikken was finally dissolved in November 1958 .

Until 1980 the newspaper was only distributed as a local paper in the Nuuk area. The expansion to nationwide sales was also associated with a stronger political orientation in the wake of the self-government of Greenland in 1979 .

Sermitsiaq is published weekly on Fridays and has been printed since September 2011 next to Atuagagdliutit in Holbæk in the print shop of the Danish media company Trykkeriet Nordvestsjælland . Both newspapers share the online version sermitsiaq.ag , with the domain standing for Atuagagdliutit / Grønlandsposten .
