Serpek method

The Serpek process is a historic process for the production of ammonia through the hydrolysis of metal nitrides . A plant based on the Serpek process, which was based on the conversion of aluminum oxide to aluminum nitride using coal and nitrogen , was put into operation in 1909 in Niedermorschweiler by the International Nitride Society in Alsace . However, the process did not gain industrial importance.
