Set It Off is a song by the Australian - Nigerian singer Timomatic . He was on 18 November 2011 as the debut - Single released and is the precursor to the book published on August 24, 2012 Your album Timomatic . The song became a huge hit in Australia. It reached number 2 here and was awarded triple platinum.

Set It Off was written by Timomatic, Anthony Egizii and David Musumeci. He also produced the song together with the songwriting and production company DNA Songs . The song was released on the Sony Music label . Timomatic described the whole point of the song as follows: “In a global sense, the first thing I want people to know about me as an artist is“ Set It Off. ”The song contains all of my energy and musical style The video is supposed to show how much I love to dance. I really think "Set It Off" is the first official Timomatic sound - it's the best single that is my music. Keep a perfect representation of me. " He stated that the song was about having fun on the dance floor and the love of his life.
Set It Off was first released as a digital single track on November 18, 2011. An extended play, with two remixes from Set It Off and one additional track, was released on CD December 9, 2011. In Germany, the CD single was released on February 17, 2012.

Music video

The official music video was uploaded to Timomatic's official VEVO channel on YouTube on November 18, 2012 . It starts with Timomatic's arrival in a bar. He goes to a DJ booth and moves the controls: the song starts. At the same time he starts a freestyle dance. During the first chorus the scene changes and Timomatic can be seen on stage against a black background. His clothes change from a brightly colored T-shirt, blue jeans, sneakers and cap to a black leather jacket, dark jeans and sunglasses. Another cut shows how he performs some moves in a green room of the bar. Then you see Timomatic with two other dancers doing a choreography. At the end he dances on a staircase.
After 10 months, the video was viewed over 1,000,000 times.

The DJ Booth site wasn't very enthusiastic and wrote:

Timomatic meets a cute woman in the club, they dance, and everyone probably lives happily ever after. Who needs a complex narrative structure when you have the level of charisma of an artist with DNA songs: 'Throbbing, synthesizer-soaked production and breathtaking moves that are presented in this cut of the accompanying video.

Chart placements

Set It Off entered the Australian charts at number 39 on December 12, 2011 and fought its way up to 2nd place in the Top 100. The song could also be found in the New Zealand charts , where it was ranked 14th.

Awards

Set It Off was awarded triple platinum by the Australian Recording Industry Association (ARIA) for sales of over 210,000 copies. In New Zealand, the song received a gold record from the Recording Industry Association of New Zealand (RIANZ) for sales of 7,500 copies.
