Seth C. Kalichman

Seth C. Kalichman is an American clinical community psychologist and professor of social psychology at the University of Connecticut who specializes in the prevention and treatment of HIV / AIDS . Its h-index is 101.

Kalichman received his PhD from the University of South Carolina in 1990 . He is the director of the Southeast HIV / AIDS Research & Education Project in Atlanta and Cape Town ; Editor of the scientific journal AIDS and Behavior and author of Denying AIDS: Conspiracy Theories, Pseudoscience, and Human Tragedy , a work on AIDS denial . The proceeds from book sales will be used to fund antiretroviral drugs for people living with HIV / AIDS in Africa.

Kalichman spent a year infiltrating HIV denial organizations. He argues that denial is often a coping strategy and that adherents are often anti-government and anti-"establishment" and prone to cognitive bias . He also argues that the leading science deniers have paranoid personality disorders . He began researching science denial after reading the work of Nicoli Nattrass.

He is the developer of the Sexual Compulsivity Scale.
