The Setsoto Stadium ( Sesotho / English for "the wonderful stadium" or "surprise stadium") is a football stadium with an athletics facility in the Lesotho capital Maseru . It is the only stadium in the country. It is mainly used for soccer games , etc. a. of the Lesotho national football team .

history

The stadium was built as the National Stadium in the 1980s . In 2002 it was renamed. In October 2007, for 5.6 million Maloti an artificial turf installed; the playing field is relatively small at 100 meters long and 50 meters wide. From 2008 to 2010 the facility for 150 million Maloti was renewed and reopened on May 1, 2010. Up until 2010 it had a capacity of around 20,000 to 25,000 spectators. After the renovation, the stadium should offer 13,900 seats.

The facility is also used for gatherings such as the swearing-in of Prime Minister Tom Thabane in 2012.
