Severo Meza (born July 9, 1986 in Ciudad Naranjos , Veracruz ) is a Mexican football player who was used in defensive midfield at the beginning of his career and has been in defense since 2007 .

Life

Already at the age of 18, Meza made his debut on May 8, 2005 for his long-time club CF Monterrey in the Mexican Primera División in the 1: 3 home defeat by Deportivo Toluca . His only two goals so far in the top Mexican league he scored in the home game on February 4, 2006 against the Tecos de la UAG to 1-0 lead (final score 2: 3) and on August 22, 2009 in the derby at the Tigres de la UANL for 1: 1 equalization, which initiated the later 2: 1 success.

With the Rayados , Meza won two Mexican championship titles (2009 and 2010) and the CONCACAF Champions League three times in a row (2011, 2012 and 2013).

Although Meza only made his debut in the Mexican national team in a 2-0 win against Wales on May 27, 2012 , he has already appeared in 14 internationals (eleven times over the full distance of 90 minutes) and is part of the Mexican squad at the Confederations Cup 2013 .
