Children have built a snowman that suddenly comes to life. The snowman, who was supposed to bring joy to the children and the adults of the village, begins to give orders, to order the inhabitants around and to rise to the ruler of the village. His power eventually becomes so great that he even succeeds in preventing the beginning of spring and the associated end of his reign of terror.

In 2013 he was a member of the jury for the award The Extraordinary Book of the children and youth program of the Berlin International Literature Festival .

Shodjaie is one of the most successful young authors on the young Persian literary scene.

Press review

The Big Snowman - A Picture Book from Iran (2013)

“'I hope that no child in this world will encounter a snowman in their life who spreads coldness and does not want to melt,' writes […] Seyyed Ali Shodjaie, and with this hint echoes the parable under the narrated surface: The people create something by which they then let themselves be controlled. "

- Karl-Hein Behr : Snowman wants to be ruler , in: Eselsohr, August 2013, p. 13
