Shōji Nakayama (musician)

Shōji Nakayama ( Japanese 中山 昭 二 , Nakayama Shōji ; * around 1950) is a Japanese jazz musician (drums, percussion).

Shōji Nakayama worked from the 1970s in the Japanese jazz scene a. a. in the sextet of Naosuke Miyamoto ( Step!, 1973), in the following years also in the ensemble of Masahiko Togashi ( Spiritual Nature , 1975), with Keiki Midorikawa ( Five Pieces of Cake , 1975) and in the Kings Roar Orchestra , that of Hideto Kanai ( Ode to Birds , 1975).

In the 1990s, Nakayama led his own trio, which also included pianist Akimitsu Iwase .
