Shuichi Yoshida

Shūichi Yoshida ( Japanese 吉田 修 一 , Yoshida Shūichi ; born September 14, 1968 in Nagasaki ) is a Japanese writer.

Yoshida attended high school in Nagasaki, then Hōsei University in Tokyo and then worked in various professions, including a. as a swimming instructor. In 1997 he made his debut as a writer with the novel Saigo no musuko ( 最後 の 息 子 ), for which he received the Bungakukai magazine's prize for young authors . For the novel Parēdo ( パ レ ー ド , "Parade", 2002), which was filmed in 2009 by Isao Yukisada , he received the Yamamoto Shūgorō Prize .

In the same year Yoshida was awarded the Akutagawa Prize for Pāku raifu ( パ ー ク ・ ラ イ イ , "Park Life") . In 2007 his bestseller Akunin ( 悪 人 ) was published, which brought him the Osaragi Jirō Prize and the Mainichi Culture Prize and the 2008 Booksellers' Grand Prize and was filmed by Sang-il Lee in 2010 . In 2009, Yoshida's novel Yokomichi Yonosuke was published , for which he received the Shibata Renzaburo Prize and the booksellers' Grand Prix again the following year. Shūichi Okita made a film based on the novel with Kengo Kōra in the lead role. He followed Heisei saru kani kassen zu ( 平 成 猿 蟹 合 戦 図 , 2011, edited as a television series in 2014) and Taiyo wa ugokanai ( 太陽 は 動 か な い , for example: “The sun doesn't move”, 2012).
