The Shackleton Falls are a waterfall on South Georgia in the South Atlantic . They are at the head of the Shackleton Valley in the Bosom region .
The UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee named it in 2013 based on the naming of the valley of the same name. Its namesake is the British polar explorer Ernest Shackleton (1874-1922), who succeeded in crossing the island with two companions in May 1916 after an adventurous rescue trip in a dinghy from Elephant Island to South Georgia.
