The Shake Weight is a modified dumbbell that was designed primarily for building muscle in the upper arms.

Since the use of the training device is strongly reminiscent of a sexual act , the presentation videos spread very quickly. In the meantime, well-known television programs have dealt with the shake weight.

Features & functionality

The Shake Weight is available in two different versions (one for women, one for men) that only differ in their weight. According to the manufacturer, the Shake Weight was mainly developed for women.

Inside the device there is a weight that is attached to both ends with a spring . Since this weight is set in motion by shaking, no battery is required.

When exercising, the Shake Weight is either shaken with both hands or with each hand alone. Because of this movement, the muscles in the upper arms (especially the biceps and triceps ) are supposed to be stimulated to build muscle.

Shake Weight in the media

The movement that is performed with the Shake Weight is very reminiscent of a hand job . Because of this similarity, the device has been parodied in several television programs, such as Two and a Half Men and The Daily Show . The cartoon series South Park also dealt with Shake Weight in the last episode of season 14 ( Crème Fraiche ).

The official promotional videos on Youtube have already received several million views.
