Shakira Caine
Shakira Caine (born February 23, 1947 as Shakira Baksh ; also known as Shakira and Lady Micklewhite ) is a former Guyanese - British model and wife of actor Sir Michael Caine .
Life
Shakira Caine was born in British Guiana and grew up as the daughter of a seamstress. The mother wanted Shakira to follow in her footsteps and later become a fashion designer.
In the late 1960s, Shakira was working as a secretary. Her boss offered her to take part in the Miss Guyana competition, which she then won. In 1967, at the age of 19, she took third place in London for the Miss World election . She stayed in London to pursue a modeling career. When Michael Caine saw her in a Maxwell House coffee commercial , it was love at first sight. He described her as "the most beautiful woman he has ever seen". Shakira Baksh and Michael Caine became a couple and were married on January 8, 1973 in Las Vegas . They have one daughter and are married to this day.
Shakira Caine starred as a supporting actress in a number of films in the 1970s, including The Man Who Wanted To Be King , in which Michael Caine also starred. She was also featured in two episodes of the science fiction series UFO .
