Harald Schwalbe

Harald Schwalbe (born March 26, 1966 in Frankfurt am Main ) is a German chemist and professor at the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main .

Schwalbe became a professor at the Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main in 2002 and was Dean of the Department of Chemistry, Biochemistry and Pharmacy there from 2003 to 2008. At the Institute for Organic Chemistry and Chemical Biology there, he heads the "Structural Chemistry and Biology / NMR Spectroscopy" department and gives basic lectures on organic chemistry and special lectures in the field of nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy . His research focus is on the application of NMR spectroscopy to investigate the building blocks of protein synthesis : DNA , RNA and proteins .

Schwalbe is Deputy Managing Director at the Center for Biomolecular Magnetic Resonance (BMRZ) at Goethe University Frankfurt am Main.

In 1999 he was awarded the Gerhard Hess Prize .
