life and work

Haber, who was born in Poland, immigrated with his Jewish family to the British Mandate Palestine via Luxembourg in 1935 . He was trained at the Art Academy in Tel Aviv and went to France in 1949, where he settled in Paris on Montparnasse . From 1954 he made sculptures from large blocks of stone, which he related to each other. He left the stone, granite or marble surfaces largely in a rough condition and only partially polished them.

Haber won the Prix Bourdelle for his work in 1959 . In 1959, on behalf of the Kröller-Müller Museum , Bram Hammacher checked the selection of two sculptures in his studio on the occasion of the opening of the sculpture park there . In 1960, Haber was invited by Willem Sandberg from the Stedelijk Museum to Amsterdam and, as agreed, set up the two works in the park in Otterlo.

In 1961, Haber and Itzhak Danziger participated in the Jeune sculpture exhibition at the Musée Rodin in Paris for Israel . From 1960 onwards he worked mainly in France and never returned to Israel. He died of a heart attack in his Paris studio.
