The Shamrock Hill is a distinctive volcanic cone on Visokoi Iceland in the archipelago of the South Sandwich Islands . It rises northwest of Irving Point in the east of the island.
The crew of the HMS Protector , an ice patrol ship of the Royal Navy , named it after the shamrock , the national symbol of Ireland , on March 17, 1964 on the occasion of St. Patrick's Day .
