Shandon Castle is an abandoned medieval low castle near Shandon between the settlements of Garelochhead and Helensburgh in the Scottish administrative unit Argyll and Bute on the banks of the Gare Loch , an inlet in the Firth of Clyde .
Fraser described the Shandon Castle grounds as being on the hillside above the Shandon House. He stated that remains existed at the time he wrote this and that the site was called "The old Dun ". According to Fraser, there are no legends about the castle.
