history

In 1308 King Robert I took an earlier castle on this site, which belonged to the Sutherland clan . In 1529 William Sutherland from Duffus bought the castle. In the 16th century a house was built next to the castle, in the 20th century the entire property was given up as a place to live.

The last owner of the castle was the Russian Mikahail de Buar († 2009). He left no will and his estate is being disputed in court in Russia.
