It could happen to you

Shane Bitney Crone was best known for the YouTube video It could happen to you , in which he talked about his homosexual relationship with Thomas Lee "Tom" Bridegroom. The two met after Bitney Crones moved to Los Angeles and became a couple; after same-sex marriage was legalized in California, they wanted to get married. On May 7, 2011, however, Bridegroom fell from a roof where he was taking photos of an acquaintance and sustained fatal injuries. At the time, gay marriage was not yet allowed in California, so Bitney Crone was denied access to information about Bridegroom's death or to see the body. In addition, Bridegroom relatives planned to use force to keep Bitney Crone away from the Knox , Indiana funeral if necessary .

Bridegroom documentation

After Bitney Crone's YouTube video already had 2 million views after a few weeks, he and Linda Bloodworth-Thomason made an 80-minute documentary about the partnership and the events after Bridegroom's death, based on original recordings of the couple and interviews with relatives from Bitney Crone as well as friends.
