Shane Summers had a fatal accident in a Cooper T53

Shane Lister Summers (born June 23, 1936 in Rossett near Wrexham , Wales , † June 1, 1961 in Brands Hatch , Great Britain ) was a British racing car driver .

Summers was registered in his Formula 1 career to five, non-World Championship Grand Prix. He contested all races in a Cooper T53 with Climax engines, reported by Terry Bartram . His best result was a fourth place in the 1961 London Trophy .

Just two weeks later, Summers had a fatal accident in training for the Silver City Trophy . His car collided with a wall at the entrance to the paddock tunnel. The young Briton died at the scene of the accident.
