Coordinates: 25 ° 55 ′ S , 113 ° 32 ′ E The Shire of Shark Bay is a local government area (LGA) in the Australian state of Western Australia . The area is 24,140 km² and has about 950 inhabitants (2016).
Shark Bay is located on the west coast of the state about 600 kilometers north of the capital Perth . The seat of the Shire Council is in the town of Denham , where about 700 inhabitants live (2016).

The Shark Bay Council has seven members. The councilors are elected by residents of the three wards (five from Denham and one each from Pastoral and Useless Loop Ward). The Council Chairman and Shire President are also recruited from among the Councilor.
