The Shaw Islands are a group of four islands off the coast of the East Antarctic Enderbyland . They are 3 km north of central McKinnon Island off the edge of the Hannan Ice Shelf .
Aerial photographs of the Australian National Antarctic Research Expeditions from 1956 were used for their mapping. The Antarctic Names Committee of Australia named it after the physicist John Eric Shaw (* 1929), who worked at Mawson Station in 1957 .
