Shegaon is a city in the Indian state of Maharashtra . Since the place was the birthplace of the Hindu saint Gajanan Maharaj , it is now a place of pilgrimage.

The city is part of the Buldhana district . Shegaon has municipal council status . The city is divided into 25 wards . On the cut-off date of the 2011 census, it had a total of 59,672 inhabitants, of which 30,547 were men and 29,125 women. Hindus form the largest group of the city's population with a share of over 64%, followed by Muslims with over 23%. The literacy rate in 2011 was 89.70%, well above the national average.

Shegaon Railway Station is on the Mumbai to Haora route .
