Sheila Ford Hamp

Sheila Ford Hamp (born 1951 ) is an American entrepreneur. She has been the owner of the Detroit Lions NFL franchise since June 23, 2020 .

Life

The second eldest daughter of William Clay Ford Sr. and Martha Firestone Ford attended the University-Liggett School in Grosse Pointe and then the Miss Porter's School in Farmington (Connecticut) . From 1969 she studied at Yale University. It was part of the first mixed course at this university. In June 1973 she obtained her bachelor's degree. She then studied at Boston University and earned her Masters in Education and Early Childhood Education. She later worked as a trustee in the Henry Ford Museum . She was chairwoman of the supervisory board for a while and is currently deputy chairwoman of the supervisory board.

She played tennis in her teens and won the Michigan State Championship when she was 17. She was also part of the Ivy League tennis team at Yale University.

Sheila Ford has been married to Steven K. Hamp since 1981, who worked at the Henry Ford Museum from 1979 to 2006. The couple has three sons. During her sons' childhood and adolescence, she coached the soccer team for 10 years. The couple live in Ann Arbor .

After her father passed away in 2014 and the mother took over the NFL franchise, Sheila Hamp became the primary adviser. She was responsible for the dismissal of managers Tom Lewand and Martin Mayhew in 2015 and the employment of Bob Quinn and Matt Patricia in 2018.

On June 23, 2020, she took over the role of senior team owner and chairman of the board of directors of the NFL franchise from her mother.
