Shellac (sometimes called Shellac of North America is called) an order in 1992 in Chicago , Illinois , founded American noise rock / post-hardcore - band . The band's style is characterized by minimalism , precision , dissonances and driving bass lines and rhythms. Guitarist Steve Albini has achieved fame primarily as a producer of well-known bands such as Nirvana , Pixies and Helmet (band) . Bassist Bob Weston is best known for Shellac and his participation in the Volcano Suns and Mission of Burma .
