Shenandoah (chief)
Shenandoah [ ˈʃeːnandoa ] (also Skenandoa or Schenando ) (* after 1703; † March 11, 1816 ) was a chief (a so-called Pine Tree Chief ) of the Oneida .
Shenandoah supported the English against the French in the Seven Years' War . During the American Revolution he fought on the side of the American colonialists against the English and led a group of 250 Oneida and Tuscarora warriors to New York . In the winter of 1777/78 Washington's troops were starving in Valley Forge . Shenandoah arranged for its tribe to fetch food from their reserves several hundred kilometers on foot.
