From 1980 Winn worked as a manager for the illustrator, cartoonist and author Chris Winn. Sheridan Winn has been a freelance journalist and author since 2001. In 2008 she published her first book in the series "The Sprite Sisters" with the Piccadilly Press. By 2010, four more books in the series followed by the same publisher. Winn bought back the rights to her books from Piccadilly Press and self-published the first five parts of the series again. Parts 6 to 8 followed in 2012.
