Lisa Taddeo (* 1980 ) is an American author , journalist and two-time winner of the Pushcart Prize for her short stories 42 (2017) and Suburban Weekend (2019). Her 2019 book Three Women became a bestseller on the New York Times' non-fiction list .

Life

Taddeo is from Short Hills , New Jersey and attended Millburn High School. She first attended New York University , but moved to Rutgers University . Taddeo graduated from Boston University with an MFA in fiction . Her mother was born in Italy. Her father died in a car accident.

Lisa married in 2014 and now lives in Litchfield County , Connecticut with her husband and daughter . She previously lived in West Tisbury , Massachusetts .

Publications

Taddeo's work has appeared in the anthologies The Best American Political Writing and The Best American Sports Writing . Taddeo was Associate Editor at Golf Magazine when David Granger commissioned her first Esquire publication , The Last Days of Heath Ledger, after reading her unpublished novel . In 2017 she was awarded the William Holodnok Fiction Prize and the Florence Engel Randall Award in Fiction.
