DJ Scotch Egg (born Shigeru "Shige" Ishihara ) is a chiptune , gabber and breakcore musician. Ishihara lives in Berlin , but is originally from Tokyo . His stage name is a tribute to the Scottish national dish Scotch eggs . Shige is also known by the names Shiez 2000 , Scotch Grind, and DJ Scotch Bonnet .

He mainly uses up to four reprogrammed Game Boys to generate the sound , which he then converts into sequencers . When performing live, he often calls out improvised gibberish , which he strongly distorts and alienates with an effects device.

history

In 2005 he released his first album KFC Core on AD AAD AT. In spring 2007, Scotch Hausen followed , which mainly consists of reinterpretations of classical works, via Wrong Music . In 2008 the third album Drumized was released on Load Records , on which jazz improvisations can be heard for the first time .

He has collaborated with Ove-Naxx , Hrvatski , Mike Paradinas , Duracell , Bong-Ra , The Pipettes and The Go! Team . Shige recorded improvisations with Ashley Marlowe and Sam Dook under the name Same Things .

Shigeru Ishihara has been playing bass with the newly founded British rock band Seefeel since 2008 .

In 2013 he released the EP Live Wire together with Sensational under the pseudonym DJ Scotch Bonnet and founded his own label Small But Hard Records .
