Kōji Shimizu

Kōji Shimizu ( Japanese 清水 康 次 , Shimizu Kōji ; born October 17, 1969 in Hiroshima , Hiroshima Prefecture ) is a former Japanese marathon runner .

In 1997 he won the Tokyo International Men's Marathon in 2:10:09 and came in 58th place at the World Athletics Championships in Athens . The following year, he finished third in the Lake Biwa marathon with 2:09:57 for the first time under 2:10. In 1999 he qualified with a third place in Tokyo in 2:09:00 for the World Cup in Seville , where he was seventh.

In 2000 he finished eighth in Tokyo and in 2001 second in the Fukuoka Marathon . At the 2002 Asian Games in Busan, he won the silver medal. In 2003 he qualified fourth in the Lake Biwa Marathon with his personal best of 2:08:28 for the World Championships in Paris / Saint-Denis , where he finished 21st.

Kōji Shimizu is 1.76 m tall and weighs 53 kg. He is a graduate of Daitō Bunka University . He is currently the athletic director of the NTT West athletics team .
