The Shinshu University ( Jap. 信州大学 , Shinshū-Daigaku ; abbreviation: 信大 , Shindai ) is a public university in Nagano Prefecture , Japan . It was founded after the Japanese university reform in 1949 through the amalgamation of eight previously independent universities. The main administration of the university and other central facilities such as the central university library and the university clinic are located on the Matsumoto campus in Matsumoto . The current president of the university is Kunihiro Hamada.
