Minamiminowa ( Japanese 南 箕 輪 村 , - mura ) is a village in the district of Kamiina in the southern center of Nagano Prefecture on the Japanese main island of Honshū .
geography
The municipality of the village consists of two parts separated by the town of Ina . The western part is high mountains with the 2296 meter high Kyōgatake on the border with Tatsuno and Shiojiri . The eastern part as the actual village is in the Ina Basin on the banks of the Tenryū River . To the north is the municipality of Minowa .
history
The municipality of Minamiminowa was created in 1875 through the amalgamation of six smaller villages and has not yet been affected by any further territorial reform . The village is twinned with Izu in Shizuoka Prefecture . The Shinshu University Faculty of Agriculture is located in Minamiminowa .
