Kamiina-gun (Nagano)

The Kamiina-gun ( Japanese. 上 伊 那 郡 , literally: "District Ober-Ina") is a district ( gun ) in Nagano Prefecture in the center of the Japanese main island of Honshu . It includes the three cities ( machi ) Iijima , Tatsuno and Minowa and the three villages ( mura ) Nakagawa , Minamiminowa and Miyada . On October 1, 2019, it had a population of 81,957 inhabitants and an area of ​​514.55 km².

The district of Kamiina was created in 1879 by dividing the old district of Ina. Since 1889 the district consisted of one town and 30 villages. Through numerous regional reforms , the number of municipalities belonging to the district was continuously reduced. The last one took place on March 31, 2006 and resulted in the current number of six municipalities described above.
