Takayama ( Japanese : 高 山村 , -mura ) is a village in Kamitakai-gun in the northeast of Nagano Prefecture on the Japanese main island of Honshū .

Takayama is east of the Nagano Valley. 7,411 people live in an area of 98.5 km² (as of March 1, 2010). The administrative area of the village borders on Gunma Prefecture . Neighboring municipalities are:

history
Takayama was created on September 30, 1956 by merging the villages of Takai and Yamada. These two villages existed since April 1st, 1889 after merging in the course of the establishment of modern local government in Japan.
traffic
There is no railway line, national roads or highways in Takayama. The closest train station is Suzaka Station. In Takayama, local public transport is served exclusively by buses. A bus line connects the Suzaka train station with the Yamada- Onsen recreational area .
Educational institutions
Takayama runs a primary and a middle school. Pre-school education is ensured by four kindergartens.
tourism
There are many hot springs ( onsen ) in Takayama . In Shinshū Takayama onsenkyō there are the four sources Goshiki, Oku-Yamada, Shichimi and Yamada. There are also the two ski areas Yamada-Bokujō and Yamada-Onsen.
