And the two villages Kijimadaira (4468 Ew.) And Nozawaonsen (3365 Ew.) Belong to him.

history

The circle was created in 1879 during the nationwide reactivation and reorganization of the ancient circles through the division of the Takai district of Shinano into Upper ( Kami- ) and Lower Takai. The district administration was established in the former bailiwick and prefecture capital Nakano . Until the dissolution of the district administration in 1926 Shimotakai had 24 district administrators (gunchō) .

After the major Meiji regional reform in 1889, which introduced the present-day community forms, Shimotakai County consisted of the small town of Nakano and 19 village communities. It was not until 1954 for the Great Shōwa Territorial Reform that the first incorporations took place, as a result of which by 1955 the number of communities fell to five (the current three and the villages of Ichikawa and Sakai). Since October 1956 the district has consisted of three municipalities. In the period from 1955 to the present day, the area of the district fell from about 665 to 423 square kilometers due to the incorporation into the cities of Nakano and Iiyama as well as incorporations into other districts.
