Marian Franciszek Suski (born November 2, 1905 in Kielce , † December 25, 1993 in Breslau ) was a Polish saber fencer and university professor.

Life

Marian Suski won bronze with the team at the World Championships in Warsaw in 1934 . In the individual competition, he took fourth place. He took part in the Olympic Games twice: at the 1932 Olympic Games in Los Angeles , he moved into the final round with the team, in which Poland took third place behind Italy and Hungary . In addition to Suski, Władysław Dobrowolski , Leszek Lubicz , Adam Papée , Władysław Segda and Tadeusz Friedrich won bronze. In 1936 in Berlin he just missed another medal win with the team in fourth place. In 1950 he became Polish champion.

From 1924 to 1927 he attended the officers' school for engineers in Warsaw and initially served in the Warsaw Telegraph Regiment from 1928. He briefly studied electrical engineering in Paris before returning to active military service. In 1938 Suski graduated from Warsaw University of Technology with a degree in electrical engineering . During the Second World War in 1939 he commanded a communications center while defending Warsaw. After the Polish surrender, he came to the war in captivity, which he did in Oflag VII A spent. After the war he taught at the Technical University of Wroclaw from 1974 as a professor .

His nephew Leszek Suski was also an Olympic fencer.
