Kiso- mura ( Jap. : 木祖村 ) is a village in Kiso-gun in Nagano Prefecture on the Japanese main island of Honshu .
geography
Kiso-mura is located in the north of the Kiso valley. The source of the Kiso is located in the municipality . 3,315 people live in an area of 140.46 km² (as of January 1, 2010). Adjacent municipalities are the independent cities ( shi ) Matsumoto and Shiojiri and the city ( machi ) Kiso-machi and the village Asahi .
history
The settlements in the area of today's Kiso-mura were united on April 1, 1889 to form today's municipality. A planned participation in the regional reform , from which Kiso-machi emerged in 2005, was previously rejected in a referendum in 2004.
traffic
The western stretch of the Chūō main line operated by JR Central runs through Kiso-mura . Kiso-mura is connected to the Japanese railway network through Yabuhara Station. Furthermore, the national road 19 leads through Kiso-mura. This means that there is a direct connection to Nagoya both by rail and by road .
