Ogawa ( Japanese 小 川村 , -mura ) is a village in Kamiminochi-gun in the north of Nagano Prefecture on the Japanese main island of Honshū .
Ogawa is a member of the association of the “most beautiful villages in Japan” ( 「日本 で 最 も 美 し い 村」 連 合 , “Nihon de mottomo utsukushii mura” rengō ).

Ogawa has an area of 58.07 km² and 3,139 inhabitants (as of April 1, 2009).
It is a mountain village in the northwest of Nagano Prefecture. The town center is 510 m above sea level, but the mountain ranges in the north of the municipality reach heights of over 1,000 m above sea level. From Ogawa you have a good view of the Hida Mountains on a clear day . Neighboring communities are the cities ( shi ) Nagano and Ōmachi and the village of Hakuba in Kitaazumi-gun .
history
Ogawa was created on April 1, 1955 by merging the villages of Kitaogawa (North Ogawa) and Minamiogawa (South Ogawa). These two districts emerged as communes on April 1, 1889.

Local public transport is served by a bus line. There is no connection to the railway network.
National Road 406 runs through northwest Ogawa.

In Ogawa there is a primary and a middle school, both of which are supported by the village.
