The Hida Mountains ( Japanese 飛 騨 山脈 , Hida-sanmyaku ) also called the Japanese "Northern Alps" ( 北 ア ル プ ス , Kita Arupusu for English Alps ), is a mountain range in Japan that stretches over the prefectures of Nagano , Toyama and Gifu . Together with the Kiso Mountains (Central Alps) and the Akaishi Mountains (Southern Alps), it forms the Japanese Alps . The Chūbu Sangaku National Park stretches across the mountains .
