The Akaishi Mountains ( Japanese 赤石 山脈 , Akashi-sanmyaku ), also called the Japanese "Southern Alps" ( 南 ア ル プ ス , Minami Arupusu for English Alps ), is a mountain range in central Honshū which is on the border of the prefectures Nagano and Yamanashi and Shizuoka extends. Together with the Hida Mountains (Northern Alps) and the Kiso Mountains (Central Alps) it forms the Japanese Alps .
The Minami Alps National Park stretches across the mountains .
