Shion Miura

Shion Miura ( Japanese 三浦 し を ん , Miura Shion , born September 23, 1976 in Tokyo ) is a Japanese author and essayist.

life and work

Shion Miura was born in Tokyo as the daughter of the literary scholar Miura Sukeyuki . In 1995 she started studying acting at Waseda University in the renowned literature department. Towards the end of her studies, she applied for a job at Hayakawa Shobō in 1998 . Murakami Tatsurō , who was responsible for the job interview, recognized Miura's talent for writing. In the same year, on Murakami's advice, Miura began to write weekly articles for “Boiled Eggs Online” under the title “Shion's Bookmarks” ( し を ん の しfür , Shion no shiori ). A short time later Murakami left the publishing house. Miura then decided to pursue a career as a writer.

She made her debut as a writer in 2000 with the book Kakuto suru mono ni maru ( A Passing Grade for Those Who Fight ). In Japan she has received various awards for her literary work. Several of her books are also available in Chinese and Korean translations. In October 2013, Carlsen Verlag published the translation of the book Kamusari nānā nichijō into German with Snow Shaking in Kamusari .

In 2006 she received the Naoki Prize for her book Mahoro ekimae Tada Benriken ( The Handymen in Mahoro Town ). For Watashi ga katarihajimeta kare wa , Kaze ga tsuyoku fuite iru , Kamusari nānā nichijō and Fune o amu ( Assemble the Boats ) Shion Miura was awarded the booksellers' Grand Prix in 2005, 2007, 2010 and 2012, respectively. Shion Miura is a member of various award committees: since 2008 member of the jury for the award of the Dazai Osamu Prize , since 2009 member of the jury for the award of the Osamu Tezuka Culture Prize and since 2012 member of the jury for the award of the "R-18 Literature Prize" ( R -18 文学 賞 ).
