Coordinates: 31 ° 20 ′ S , 115 ° 54 ′ E The Shire of Gingin is a local government area (LGA) in the Australian state of Western Australia . The area is 3211 km² and has about 5200 inhabitants (2016).
Gingin is located on the Australian west coast about 70 kilometers north of the capital Perth . The seat of the Shire Council is in the village of Gingin, where about 850 inhabitants live (2016).

The Gingin Council has ten members. The members are elected by the residents of the eight wards (two each from Greater Gingin and Lancelin Ward, one each from Woodridge, Seabird / Gabbadah, Guilderton / Caraban, Ledge Point / Karakin / Breton Bay, North and South Ward). The Council Chairman and President des Shires are also recruited from among the Councilor.
