Coordinates: 28 ° 3 ′ S , 117 ° 50 ′ E The Shire of Mount Magnet is a local government area (LGA) in the Australian state of Western Australia . The area is 13,692 km² and has about 500 inhabitants (2016).
Mount Magnet Shire is located in the west of the state about 470 kilometers northeast of the capital Perth . The headquarters of the Shire Council is in the town of Mount Magnet , which is home to around 460 people (2016).

The Mount Magnet Council has nine members. They are elected by all residents of the LGA. Mount Magnet is not divided into districts. The Council Chairman and Shire President are also recruited from among the Councilor.
