Coordinates: 31 ° 54 ′  S , 116 ° 10 ′  E The Shire of Mundaring is a local government area (LGA) in the Australian state of Western Australia . Mundaring belongs to the metropolis of Perth , the capital of Western Australia. The area is 645 km² and has about 38,000 inhabitants (2016).

Mundaring is located on the western edge of the Perth metropolitan area about 20 to 50 kilometers east of the city center. The headquarters of the Shire Council is located in the Mundaring district, where around 3000 people live (2016).

The Mundaring Council has twelve members. They are elected by the residents of the four wards (three each from the South, East, West and Central Ward). The Council Chairman and Shire President are also recruited from among the Councilor.
