Shleif Island ( English ; Russian Остров Шлейф Ostrow Schleif , German ' Loop Island' ) is an up to 41 m high and irregularly shaped island off the Ingrid Christensen coast of the East Antarctic Princess Elisabeth Land . It belongs to the group of the Rauer Islands and lies south of and parallel to Flag Island in the southeastern part of Prydz Bay
Scientists on a Soviet Antarctic expedition mapped and named it in 1956. The Antarctic Names Committee of Australia transcribed this name into English.
