Shoal Bay is a bay of the Beagle Gulf , which is located northeast of Darwin in the Australian state of Northern Territory . The bay is of the coastal type Ria . The short Howard River flows into the bay , the confluence is called Hope Inlet . There is - north and along the Howard inland - the Tree Point Conservation Area , which is then connected to the south of the Howard Springs Nature Park . The bay is home to many species of birds, including the great knutt .
Shoal Bay Receiving Station is located southwest of the bay .
